On the fp.FastPencil.com Marketplace, we do not charge any channel fees.
So if the eBook is $10, the author makes $8 and FastPencil makes $2.
If a physical/print-on-demand (POD) book is sold, and the manufacturing cost is $2, we split the remaining $8, 80/20; the author makes $6.40 and FastPencil makes $1.60.
On a 3rd party Marketplace, channel fees do apply.
For example, on Amazon.com, channel fees vary from 30-70% of the retail price. But let's say they charge 60% of the retail cost as a channel fee.
So if the e-book is $10, the channel fee is $6, we split the remaining $4 80/20; the author makes $3.20 and FastPencil makes $0.80.
If a physical/print-on-demand book is sold, the channel fee is $6 and the manufacturing cost is $2, we split the remaining $2, 80/20; the author makes $1.60 and FastPencil makes $0.40.
